“Mondrian to the abstract”
2nd - 24th February 2024
Following the success of our ‘Portrait’ and ‘Horizon’ group exhibitions, we have the next in this series ready!
So faces and landscapes. What’s next? Well following our research someone who has inspired us, and many others to create their iconic block colour images. We are shifting our gaze to Piet Mondrian.
The 1st February Honours 80 years since the death of Dutch abstract artist, Piet Mondrian. Celebrated for his paintings of simple geometric shapes painted in red, blue, yellow and black, Mondrian was an important member of the De Stijl movement.
The exhibition will be titled ‘Mondrian to the abstract' and will be open to artists of all ages.
We will be announcing more details on hand in dates closer to the time, but we wanted to give you as much notice as possible so that you can get your thinking caps on and start creating. The exhibition will likely open on 1st February to coincide with the anniversary, so plan to have your work complete by the end of January.
Whether it be in the style of Mondrian, or simply using his famous colour palette of red, blue, yellow, black and white. Or you have your own more abstract imagery you have concocted. We are inviting all techniques to brighten up the gallery until we reach spring-time.
We leave the subject up to you!
We will be offering 10% discount on anything being framed for the exhibition.
Artworks should be available for purchase at the exhibition, with our standard 30% commission taken on sales.
Artwork should be no bigger than 1 metre square and you can enter up to 3 pieces.
There will be a small charge of £2 per artwork entered, but you will have a chance to win this money back, as we are going to ask viewers of the exhibition to vote for their favourite piece. The artist with the most votes will win the pot of money at the end of the exhibition.
