Rob was born in 1970 and lived in Liverpool until he was 18, when he left to study illustration at Kingston Polytechnic in London. He has an interest in photography, sculpture and printmaking but focuses on painting in his own work using mainly acrylics, oils and watercolours. He has exhibited his work at various galleries in London, Salisbury, and Alderney as well as in Guernsey. Examples of his work can be seen in Guernsey at the Coach House Gallery, the Quay Gallery and the Sula Gallery in addition to permanently displayed work in the Medical Specialist Group building in St.Martins. During 1999 Rob produced his own Millennium project called a “Record in time”, in which he produced a painting every day throughout 1999. The resulting 356 paintings were exhibited at the millennium arts centre in Guernsey during 2000. Rob loves to work from direct observation and uses the landscape and people around him as a source of inspiration. He has a particular interest in the effects of light and loves to try and capture this in his work. |
